Rare Venetian Cabinet In Lacquer, Gold And Hard Stone, Late 16th Early 17th Century

Rare Venetian cabinet from the late 16th-early 17th century.

This magnificent cabinet has a fully lacquered and gilded wooden structure, adorned with female figures in relief. It rests on four carved and gilded wooden legs in the shape of lions. The interior reveals a series of drawers covered with jade plates and a central drawer with a theater of mirrors.
The bottoms and interiors of the drawers are painted in red lacquer with floral decorations in gold while the interior of the doors is in blue and gold lacquer.
The Venetian art of the 16th and 17th centuries sees the birth of real small jewels, cabinets and caskets with the most bizarre shapes decorated with lacquers, gold, precious and semi-precious stones, marbles … after all, the Serenissima, at the apex of its power, it could count on the importation of the most disparate materials from Arab countries such as China or India.
