Large French Louis XVI Ormolu Gilt Bronze Cartel Clock Signed Jolivet


Large wall cartel of exceptional quality in finely chiseled and gilded bronze. France, Louis XVI period, 18th century.
Case decorated with a covered vase surrounded by heads of rams and adorned with a garland of laurels falling to the bottom of the dial. Dial signed Jolivet in Paris, the counter-enamel on the dial signed Barbezat 1776. Elie Barbezat, specialized in enamelling pendulum dials, he supplies some of the main Parisian clockmakers including Jean-André Lepaute, Antoine Crosnier and probably Julien Le Roy.
Magnificent original ormolu gilding in perfect state of conservation. Original curved glass. Original movement with full wire pendulum suspension and complication visible on the dial in the third quarter (see photo).
Possibility of revision of the movement at a specialized watchmaker before delivery on request. .
