Early 17th Pair of Mechelen Alabaster Plaques

“The Entry of Jesus into Jerusalem” and “The Washing of the Feet”.
Superb pair of relief plates in gilded alabaster from Mechelen in their original frames in gilded pellets, late 16th early 17th century.
The quality of these reliefs is irreproachable: the characters are finely sculpted and finished in gold, they almost seem to come out of the frames. The two episodes discussed are rare: they are framed in two magnificent original frames that have never been opened, richly decorated and gilded.
On the back of the frames there is barely legible ink writing.
Excellent state of preservation.
