18th Large Louis XV Wall Cartel In Marquetry


Elegant wall light display displaying a rich ornamentation of chiseled and gilded bronze applied to a fruitwood marquetry case decorated with flowers.
Louis XV period, 18th century.
The console is decorated at the corners and at the bottom with foliage scrolls; the dial door is decorated with an allegory of time in Janus’ two-sided jacket; the decoration ends with a plume on the top.
The dial with Roman numerals is signed Verneuil à Epernay, an active art watchmaker in the 18th century.
Original mechanism with wire suspension revised by a specialist watchmaker.
Case in perfect condition.
